According to Deadline, actress Demi Moore, actor Stellan Skarsgård, director Chloé Zhao, and others have been revealed to be joining the main jury of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, led by director Park Chan Wook.

Information about the jury for the main competition of the 79th Cannes Film Festival was revealed on May 4th (local time), featuring a multinational lineup of actors: Demi Moore (USA), Stellan Skarsgård (Sweden), Ruth Negga (Ireland), and Isaach de Bankolé (Ivory Coast). The list also includes director Chloé Zhao (China), screenwriter-director Diego Céspedes (Chile), screenwriter-director Laura Wandel (Belgium), and screenwriter Paul Laverty (Ireland-Scotland).
Earlier, South Korean director Park Chan Wook was officially appointed as the president of the jury for the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. He, along with the eight other jurors, will evaluate 22 films competing at this year's festival to select the most deserving winner of the Palme d'Or.
The jury for this year's Cannes Film Festival is comprised of big names in international cinema. Among them, Park Chan Wook is a familiar face at leading film festivals worldwide . According to Variety , the South Korean filmmaker has had four films premiere at Cannes. Notably, he made his debut at the festival with Oldboy (2004) – which won the Grand Jury Prize, Thirst (2009) – which won the Jury Prize, and Decision to Leave (2022), which earned him the Best Director award.
"Park Chan Wook's creativity, mastery of visual language, and penchant for portraying the inner conflicts of both women and men with their unusual destinies have given contemporary cinema truly memorable moments. We are honored to celebrate his immense talent and, more broadly, the cinema of a nation that constantly raises profound questions for our time," said Iris Knobloch, President of the Film Festival, and Director Thierry Frémaux.

One of the most notable faces on this year's jury is the renowned Demi Moore. The American star returns to Cannes after her leading role in The Substance (2024), which was a huge success at the festival that year and earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Meanwhile, actor Stellan Skarsgård made his mark at Cannes last year with Sentimental Value (winning the Grand Prix) and earning an Oscar nomination.
Meanwhile, Chloé Zhao has just achieved resounding success with Hamnet (2025) and Nomadland (2021) – films that won the Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director. Paul Laverty is equally prominent, having written screenplays for 14 films by renowned director Ken Loach, 11 of which were screened at Cannes, including two Palme d'Or winners: The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006) and I, Daniel Blake (2016).
The 79th Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to take place from May 12-23 in the French Riviera. This year's festival will showcase the latest cinematic works from talented filmmakers such as James Gray, Asghar Farhadi, Pedro Almodóvar, Paweł Pawlikowski, Ira Sachs, Hirokazu Kore-eda, László Nemes, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, and others.
