The Los Angeles Dodgers are staying busy, as they have added another new pitcher to their roster.
According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the Dodgers have acquired pitcher Kris Bubic from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for pitcher Carlos Duran.
Bubic had been creating some chatter in the rumor mill as a trade candidate leading up to the deadline. It makes sense as he is a pending unrestricted free agent and the Royals are not a playoff team. Now, the Dodgers are the team that has landed him.
Bubic appeared in just nine games this season with the Royals before this trade, where he had a 3-2 record, a 4.11 ERA, and 51 strikeouts. He has been sidelined since May due to elbow and shoulder soreness but is making progress with his recovery. Due to this, it makes sense that the Dodgers are taking a chance on him.
If Bubic gets healthy, he could end up being a very strong addition to the Dodgers’ pitching staff. Just last season, the 6-foot-3 lefty was an All-Star. In 20 appearances with the Royals in 2025, he had an 8-7 record, a 2.55 ERA, and 116 strikeouts. If he fully recovers and regains this form, it would be huge for an already deeply talented Dodgers team.
In 126 career MLB games over seven seasons, Bubic has a 22-38 record, a 4.14 ERA, and 495 strikeouts. It will be interesting to see what he can do as a member of the Dodgers from here.
