According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Phillies are among the teams interested in San Francisco Giants star pitcher Robbie Ray with the deadline rapidly approaching.
“San Francisco Giants veteran starter Robbie Ray is also on the Phillies’ radar after already pulling off one big trade together,” Nightengale posted on X.
The Phillies being interested in Ray is understandable. They could use another star pitcher for their starting rotation, and acquiring Ray would provide them with just that.
With the Giants currently being among the worst teams in the league, Ray is one of baseball’s top trade candidates to watch. There is a real chance that he will get moved, as the Giants have made it clear that they are open for business. Due to this, it makes sense that the Phillies are targeting him.
If the Phillies landed Ray, he would give them another high-impact pitcher for the front half of their rotation. This would be big for a Phillies team that is looking to go on a real run this postseason.
Ray has appeared in 22 games this season with the Giants, where he has a 10-6 record, a 3.08 ERA, and 107 strikeouts. With numbers like these, it is clear that several teams would love to acquire him. It will be intriguing to see if the Phillies win the sweepstakes and land the two-time All-Star from here.
