MANILA, Philippines — IV of Spades claimed two of the biggest prizes at the 39th Awit Awards, winning Album of the Year and Song of the Year, while fitterkarma took Record of the Year for “Pag-ibig ay Kanibalismo II” during the ceremony held Tuesday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
The band’s album “Andalucia” was named Album of the Year, while “Aura” won Song of the Year, giving IV of Spades a double victory in two of the night’s most prestigious categories.
Pablo of SB19 and RADKIDZ was named Songwriter of the Year, while Brian Lotho won Producer of the Year.
The awards also recognized emerging talent, with Nicole taking home Best New Artist.
SB19’s “Dungka” was among the night’s multiple-award winners, taking Best Pop Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Recording.
Dionela and Loonie’s “Ikigai” likewise earned three honors, winning Best R&B Recording, Best Rap/Hip-hop Recording and Best Collaboration.
Janine Berdin picked up two awards for “What if I miss you for the rest of my life,” winning Best Ballad Recording and Best Performance by a Solo Artist.
Ben&Ben was named Best Performance by a Group for “Saranggola.”
In the genre categories, Lola Amour won Best World Music Recording for “Love on Loop.”
Project Yazz received two honors, winning Best Jazz Recording for “Yamot-Ennui” and Best Traditional Contemporary Folk Recording for “Malalim ang Gabi.”
Typecast won Best Rock/Metal Recording for “Rapture,” while One Click Straight took Best Alternative Recording for “Telepono.”
The 39th Awit Awards celebrated the achievements of Filipino artists, songwriters, producers and performers across various genres, recognizing the diverse body of work that continues to shape contemporary original Pilipino music.
