BYD Cars Philippines has expanded its electrified sedan lineup with the updated BYD Seal 5 DM-i, offered in Essential and Dynamic variants. Building on the model introduced locally in 2024, the facelifted sedan combines BYD’s fifth-generation Super DM-i plug-in hybrid technology with features intended for daily commuting, family use, professional mobility, and fleet operations.
“With the launch of the new Seal 5 DM-i, BYD Cars Philippines continues to set the benchmark for electric mobility in the country,” said Bob Palanca, managing director of BYD Cars Philippines. “Whether you are a first-time car buyer seeking reliability, a professional looking for a daily driver, or a fleet operator focused on optimizing operational costs, the new Seal 5 DM-i offers a practical yet advanced solution that ensures every journey is smarter, more comfortable, and more cost-effective.”
Two variants with different electric ranges
Both Seal 5 DM-i variants use BYD’s fifth-generation Super DM-i system, which combines electric driving with the extended range of a plug-in hybrid powertrain. During an efficiency run conducted by BYD Cars Philippines in partnership with the Automobile Association Philippines, the sedan achieved a combined driving range of up to 2,181km.
The Essential variant is equipped with a 7.42kWh Blade Battery and offers up to 55km of electric range. The Dynamic uses a larger 18.3kWh Blade Battery, extending electric-only driving to as much as 115km before the hybrid system takes over.
The 2,181km figure was recorded during a certified efficiency run and is not guaranteed under ordinary use. Actual results may vary depending on driving habits, traffic, road and weather conditions, vehicle load, and battery condition.
Connected and practical interior
Inside, the Seal 5 DM-i comes with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Automatic climate control with rear air vents and multiple USB charging ports support everyday passenger comfort and device connectivity.
The sedan provides 522 liters of trunk space, which can expand to a maximum of 1,295 liters with the rear seats folded. This gives the vehicle additional flexibility for family luggage, work equipment, or business cargo.
Safety and driver-support features
The updated Seal 5 DM-i is built around BYD’s Blade Battery and includes a range of safety and convenience systems across the lineup. These include Cruise Control, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, rear parking sensors, Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill Hold Control, Automatic Vehicle Hold, and multiple airbags.
The features are intended to support everyday driving while giving both private owners and fleet operators a more predictable and manageable ownership experience.
